First Things First is seeking a new CEO to lead this dynamic organization (https://www.firstthingsfirst.org/). FTF is Arizona’s statewide early childhood agency, committed to the healthy development and learning of young children from birth to age 5. Confidential inquiries can be directed to me at or 480.794.0871.
The agency has an annual budget of $150M, a dedicated stream of public funding, 160 professional staff and 300 volunteers across the state. FTF was created by voter initiative in 2006 and is governed by a state Board with 28 regional partnership councils. First Things First also uses a research and evaluation plan to ensure its investments of human and financial resource are working to accomplish its goals.
The successful candidate may come from any number of backgrounds – health or policy organizations, foundations, government agencies, nonprofit organizations or other sectors. This candidate should be conversant in early childhood policy and practice but does not necessarily need to be an early childhood expert. Demonstrated success in leading and managing a complex organization is essential, as are the collaborative and interpersonal skills to inspire and engage colleagues and partners in a diverse environment.
It would be great to connect with you via phone, videoconference or email to receive any referrals you might have in mind. Please do feel free to share the position description with potential candidates you might be thinking about. Confidential inquiries can be directed to me at or 480.794.0871.
