Job Summary

The Development, Education, and Learning (DEL) Lab (https://www.colorado.edu/lab/del/) directed by Dr. Lei Yuan at CU Boulder is seeking a full-time Professional Research Assistant. This Professional Research Assistant will contribute to research related to human cognition with a particular focus on cognitive development in young children. The ideal candidate should be detail-oriented, has excellent communication skills, be able to work independently and collaboratively, be motivated and organized. Prior experience with programming and data analysis is a plus.

Who We Are

We are a research lab dedicated to understanding human cognition and its development. We take a multidisciplinary approach that is influenced by cognitive science, developmental psychology, computational modeling, and educational research. We use a combination of methodologies including behavioral, eye-tracking, computation modeling, and translational research. We also actively engage in community outreach efforts that promote cognitive development in children.

What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

  • Coordinating multiple projects and overseeing research activities.
  • Recruiting participants via emails/phone calls and in-person in the communities and in schools.
  • Creating physical or digital research stimuli.
  • Documenting procedures and research-related activities.
  • Testing children and adult participants, collecting behavioral and eye-tracking data.
  • Complying with requirements for human subjects research.
  • Troubleshooting research equipment malfunctions, acquiring and communicating solutions with relevant parties.
  • Ordering research supplies and processing reimbursement.
  • Supervising undergraduate research assistants.
  • Maintaining the physical lab environment.

What We Can Offer

This salary range for this full-time position is: $38,000.00-$48,000.00 annually.

What We Require

  • A Bachelor’s Degree.

What You Will Need

  • Experience working with young children in formal and/or informal settings.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft suit (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and collaborative platforms (such as Google Drive or One Drive).
  • The ability to work independently as well as collaboratively.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and acquire new responsibilities.
  • Attention to detail, highly organized and self-motivated.

What We Would Like You To Have

  • Prior experience conducting human subjects research.
  • Programing skills (in languages such as R, Python, Matlab) and data analysis skills.
  • Prior experience with project management.
  • Prior experience with content editing software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, iMovie.
