Early Career Symposium
The Cognitive Development Society (CDS) is excited to announce the third Early Career Symposium, which will take place during the 2026 meeting in Montreal, QC, Canada. Following the success of the inaugural symposium at the start of the 2022 meeting, we are once again including this event as part of our opening evening festivities. A series of brief talks (approximately 10 minutes each) will be presented by early-career researchers. Nominations for speakers are now open, and we welcome both self-nominations and nominations from others.
Eligibility: Nominees should be a maximum of 5 years post-conferral of PhD. (Exceptions may be granted in special circumstances, such as for documented health or family leave.) We will consider any nominee eligible whose PhD was awarded within the calendar year that is 5 years before the application date, i.e. anytime in 2020 or later.
Nomination Deadline: July 11, 2025
What is needed for a nomination:
* A nomination statement (200 words maximum) that describes the nominee’s research, highlighting themes of their research program, why their research is important for the field, and what the broader impacts of their work are. Information about the nominee’s background and personal or academic journey are appropriate to include as well. The statement can be written either by the nominee themselves or by another member of our community as a nominator.
* A recent CV
Nominations will be considered by the Program Chairs, President, and President-Elect of CDS.
Decisions will be based on the intellectual merit of the nominee’s research and their work’s potential for broader impacts. Decisions will also take into account the diversity of topics and of nominees.
