Job Summary

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position as Assistant Professor of Developmental Psychology in the Department of Psychological Science in the Radow College of Humanities and Social Sciences with a preferred start date of August 2025. This is a nine-month contracted position. The area of specialization within developmental psychology is open and may include development across the lifespan or within certain developmental periods.

This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.

Responsibilities

  • Teaching undergraduate courses in human development, including lifespan development, infant development, child development, adolescent and young adult development, aging, family interaction, as well as other content courses in the candidate’s area of specialization and courses in research methods and statistics, applied psychology, or other core courses in the curriculum, according to departmental needs.
  • The workload distribution for this position includes expectations for teaching, research, and service.
  • The standard teaching load is 18 credit hours per academic year (typically three classes per semester) and is negotiable.
  • Maintain a productive research program, including publications, with the potential to compete for external funding.
  • Supervise and mentor students in collaborative and/or independent research experiences.
  • Departmental faculty engage in service at the department, college, and/or university level, and to the profession.

Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.

Required Qualifications

  • A Terminal/Doctorate degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Developmental Psychology or a closely related discipline, is required. This includes scientists specializing in applied areas, including but not limited to child development, cognitive development, health/wellbeing, aging, prevention/intervention, relationships, etc.
  • ABD candidates will be considered, but the degree must be earned by the start date.
  • Record of conducting high-quality scholarship in developmental psychology.
  • Evidence of effective teaching at the undergraduate level.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Evidence of a strategic/programmatic research agenda.
  • Research expertise in an applied area.
  • Experience applying for extramural funding.
  • Experience mentoring undergraduates in research.
  • Experience collaborating and working well with teams.
